The five-concert series of "Outlines of Chopin" is dedicated to the bicentenary of the birth of the great Polish composer.
In the proposed cycle almost all the piano works of Frederic Chopin will be performed. As performers for this cycle, which consists of 5 concerts, the organizers have chosen the class of Alexander Sandler, the professor of St. Petersburg Conservatory. His current and former pupils Peter Laul, Stanislav Soloviev, Pavel Raykerus, Alexander Pirozhenko, Miroslav Kultyshev, Ekaterina Humeniuk, Edward Kiprsky and many others are the real pride of St. Petersburg piano school and represent our city at various international competitions and concert venues in many countries.
In the second concert of the cycle we will hear Variations brillantes on "Je vends des Scapulaires" from Herold's Ludovic, in B-flat major, Op. 12; Ballade No 3 in A-flat major, Op. 47, Two Nocturnes, Op. 62; Fantaisie in F minor, Op. 49; Two Polonaises, Op.26; Polonaise in A-flat major ("Heroic" or "Drum"), Op. 53 ; Polonaise-Fantaisie in A-flat major, Op. 61 performed by the famous St. Petersburg pianist Aleksandr Pirozhenko.
Aleksandr Pirozhenko was born in Leningrad. In 2003 he has graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory and in 2005 he has finished his postgraduate studies in the class of Professor A.M. Sandler. He has also done postgraduate studies at the Higher School of Music in Hanover (Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Hannover) in the class of Professor A. Vardy.
The musician performs regularly solo programs and as a soloist with orchestras in Russia and abroad, including such countries as Estonia, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Germany, Austria, France, UK, USA, Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Japan, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and other countries. Aleksandr Pirozhenko is a winner of many international competitions. Among the awards are the first prizes at Competition named after Ettore Pozzoli in Italy, at the Competitions of concert performers in New York, Ibiza, and in Newport (UK).
Aleksandr Pirozhenko has performed under direction of such well-known conductors as Nikolai Alexeyev, Alexander Dmitriev, Sergei Stadler, Vladimir Altschuler, Alexander Sladkovsky, Eduard Serov, Arkady Schteinluht, Alexander Chernushenko, Tugan Sokhiev, Hobart Earle, Imants Reznis, Michael Stern, George Mester, Grant Llewellyn , Ulf Schirmer, Nicholas Carthy, Neil Varon, En Shao and others.
Since 2006, Aleksandr Pirozhenko teaches at the Department of special piano at St. Petersburg Conservatory. The musician has given numerous master classes in the U.S., Ukraine, Italy. He is a jury member at international competitions in Spain and Ukraine.
