String quartet «Àtrium» - is one of the leading and popular young quartets on the world music stage.
Ñharisma of musicians, a perfect balance, bright interpretations of world classical masterpieces, promotion of the best contemporary composers – all these qualities received critical and public acclaim around the world.
The quartet was formed in 2000 by the students of Saint-Petersburg Conservatorium named after N.À. Rimsky-Korsakov, class of prof. I. Levinson, a celloist of an outstanding Taneev’s Quarter.
«Àtrium» became the first Russian quartet, which won both two biggest international string quartet competitions. They received First Prize and Public Prize on the IX International quartet competition in London in Wigmore Hall, in 2003. In July 2007 the jury of the V International string quartet competition in Bordo awarded «Àtrium» with a Grand Prix and Societe Generale Bank Prize.
These successes opened to the quartet the way to the best concert venues and festivals, among which are Beethovenfest, Schwetzingen, Schlezwig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Bad Kissingen in Germany, Aix-en-Provence, Colmar, Luberon in France, Orlando and Grachtenfestival in Netherlands, Kuhmo festival in Finland, Davos and Lucerne festivals in Switzerland. Musicians performed in many countries of the world: Austria, Australia, Albania, Belgium, UK, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Canada, the Netherlands, Poland, the USA, Russia, the Ukrain, Finland, France, Switzerland and Japan.
