Svetlana Simonova was born in Leningrad. She graduated from Philological Department of Leningrad State University with specialty in Russian Language and Literature.

She worked in publishing house Soviet Composer, in the newspaper Evening Leningrad - Petersburg, the musical and theatrical herald Antrakt. Since 1991 she is a Deputy Director of printing and publications centre Kult-Inform-Press.

Since 1992 Svetlana Simonova works at the Philharmonic Society of Saint Petersburg. Since 2002 she is a Director of Creative Programs and since 2006 she is also an Executive Secretary of the Society.

She was a coordinator of festivals Andrey Petrov in a Circle of Friends, Classics and the Future, The Creation of the World Proceeds, and she was an executive producer of festival St.Petersburg Musical Spring, musical festival The Earth of Children, of the First and the Second All-Russian Competition of Composers named after A.P. Petrov.

She is a producer of numerous international projects of the Philharmonic Society of Saint Petersburg.
