Alexey Lyudevig was born in Saint Petersburg, where he was taught by his father, the well-known violist Alexey Lyudevig, Yury Bashmet and Dmitry Shebalin, and by Mariss Jansons for conducting.

A. Lyudevig's performances have spanned four continents, where he has performed solos with numerous famous orchestras, for example, the Berlin Radio Symphonic Orchestra (Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin), the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also performed at festivals, like Mstislav Rostropovich's Rencontres Musicales d'Evian, Radio France in Montpellier, the Korsholm Music Festival, Saint Petersburg's White Nights Festival, the Bachanalia Festival in New York, and Suoni e Colori in Florence. Alexey has worked as a concertmaster of violas of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (Lausanne Chamber Orchestra) and of the Opera National de Lyon. He also participated in establishing the international Saint Petersburg Palaces Musical Festival.

Alexey Lyudevig is currently the Art Director of the New Silver Age Festival.

This musician's repertoire covers three centuries, from Baroque to works of the modern composer, including those written specially for Alexey Lyudevig. He has performed in several first performances of works written by Russian composers, the latest of which was 'Concert' by the famous Sergey Slonimsky. Alexey was also the first musician to perform a number of works by American and French composers.

French reviewers wrote about one of his performances, 'Alexey Lyudevig knows how to make his instrument sing with all of the shades of the human voice. Mysterious and shaded, he smartly harmonizes brilliance with soft poetry, and his light sliding bow is able to become very deep-toned.'

Today, Alexey Lyudevig combines his solo performances, chamber music performances (primarily with his own ensemble - the St. Petersburg Chamber Soloists) and teaching at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory.
